Keepsake Creations, our June Vendor of the Month! Melissa Galloway and Amy Masek, both from North Platte, have brought their talent to Craft Corner. Their offerings include items you can purchase in the shop as well as multiple customizable options for that special touch. Before I show off their amazing products, I will introduce you to these 2 wonderful gals:
Melissa Galloway is a proud stay-at-home wife and mom. She and her husband Jason have two children—a 6-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son. She has a variety of interests, but enjoys spending time with family and her daughter’s school.
Amy Masek lives with her family in North Platte, Nebraska. She has been married to her husband Matt since 1999 and they lived in Minnesota and Michigan before coming back to Nebraska in 2003. They have three children: Tessa and Tyler (twins) who are ten years old and Hallie who is six. Amy is currently studying for her master’s degree in community counseling. In her spare time she enjoys scrapbooking, watching TV, and doing crafts with her children.
First, I will highlight some items they have in the shop and then will provide some info on their custom work and options:
This quilt has so much unique personality, it will be a favorite "forever" blanket for any child! Winnie the pooh crib blanket (boy)--laying on an actual crib mattress to show size. This one of a kind quilt features a fleece square in the middle with a large pocket made from an adult sweater. The 5 other squares were made from children's t-shirts and sweaters. The bottom right square hides another pocket as Pooh *is* the pocket! Backed with Pooh fabric. 2 appliqued designs from the backing fabric positioned at the top of the red square.

Each square has been lined with fusible interfacing to give it stability and strength. Centered with "Warm & Natural Batting," a wonderful quality batting. Backed with tan fabric. Machine quilted “in the ditch” or in every seam. This collection of shirts represents months of thrifting and coordinating for a special and unique quilt. Machine washable cold delicate and line dry.

"All Black" Husker shirt quilt (6 squares)--made from 2 t-shirts, a polo, and 2 sweatshirts. The border is made from Husker fabric. Two following pictures are close-ups. 'Warm and Natural' batting and black cotton backing. 42" x 56" (that's 3.5'x4.6'!)

Not only do they make beautiful quilts, but they also make some activity blankets!
There are a variety of them in the shop...here are some close-ups:
Toddler's Car's Activity Blanket--made from several recycled materials (shirt & jeans). The top pocket holds a board book (included) and the bottom pocket is the "pit stop" to "park" your cars (cars not included). Folds in fourths with carrying handles. One-of-a-kind item, but can make several similar to this one.
Large size: 23" x 23" with book, handles, and button closure: $40 (This one available in the shop.)
Regular size: One buttoned pocket (to hold cars), strings to roll it closed (like a sleeping bag), 18" x 18" $25 (not available in the shop, but can be ordered.)
A must for the mischievous little guy! "I'm never in trouble when I'm with Grandpa" activity blanket--I love how the little pirate goes so well with that saying! There's a white skull in the top corner that lights up with a red strobe light when shaken (attached to a ribbon loop). Attached stretchy ring and a slitted ring to add your own favorite toy.

Winnie the Pooh activity blanket--we packed a bunch into this one! There's a total of four pockets, a zipper, and 3 buttons. The red shirt top has a zipper and is itself a large pocket, plus has a pocket on the front of it. The green onesie has buttons (that have "Pooh" written on them!) and is itself a pocket as well. Attached are a stuffed pooh and a stretchy plastic ring. I didn't feel the need to add a ribbon loop to hold a plastic slitted ring, but if you'd like that, adding it would be no problem. The back is white with Pooh playing with a balloon and in his "thinking" pose.

Basketball activity blanket. Made from a shirt and a pants outfit. Top left says "Mom's all-star"; bottom left says, "One day I'll be a pro-basketball player and play for the all star team". Attached to the pocket is an orange puppy. Also has a slotted plastic ring and stretchy spiral ring. Back is basketball fabric.

Here are some examples of custom-made activity blankets that can be ordered:
"Daddy M.D. poem/Zachary" blanket. Love the expressive little eyes on the attached duckling. This blanket is reproducable in either a boy or girl theme. This beautiful poem is attached:'Whenever Daddy signs his name he always writes M.D. so that people will all know that he belongs to me'.
For M.D. means "My Daddy" or something just the same, and that's why he always puts those letters in his name. Some letters in his name are small and some are not, you see. He always makes them big like that because he's so proud of me.
"Dad the Builder" Custom order--Made for a grandson for Christmas whose dad is in the construction industry. *Can be duplicated in a similar fashion*
Front--zippered pocket, the jumper top is another pocket itself, stretchy spiral ring, and slotted ring to attach a favorite toy.

Custom made doctor activity blanket. "Cameron Doctor in training" with attached giraffe toy, stretchy ring, and a slotted ring to attach toy to.Help your baby follow in a family member's occupation footsteps!
These are custom made, but is available for a similar reproduction.
Now, some examples of customized quilts:
Pet memorial--can use bedding, clothing, tags, etc. or just photos and embroidery. Please view the layout and keep in mind the fabric options are your choice.
Memorial Quilt: a precious keepsake to remember and honor a son. What an amazing honor to partner with this family to help them heal!
Full size--25 squares with a jean and coat border. The quilt top made from sweaters, polos, t-shirts, jeans, photos, coat and embroidery squares. (Personal information has been covered to respect the family's privacy). Binding around the edge of the quilt is made from a pair of slacks. We were able to accommodate many special requests to make this quilt totally theirs.
